Game

  1. Robots will have 5 minutes to find balls and deposit them in the goals. The playing field will contain:
    • 3-4 goals
    • 10-12 red balls
    • one green powerball
  2. For each goal, teams will receive
    • 6 points for the first red ball in that goal
    • 4 points for the second red ball in that goal
    • 2 points for any additional red balls in that goal
  3. Teams will also receive 1 point for the pocession of a ball (red or green) or any ball left in a 14 inch box in front of a goal (called the 'porch').
  4. One of the goals, identified by the barcode green-black-green-black-green, will be the powergoal. Teams will get additional points for putting the powerball in the powergoal. If they place it in the powergoal in under
    • 30 seconds, they will receive 12 additional points.
    • 45 seconds, they will receive 8 additional points.
    • 5 minutes, they will receive 4 additional points.
  5. Additional notes on the powerball:
    • The powergoal will not be visible from the powerball.
    • Time starts when the team either moves the powerball or gains pocession of it (pocession: if the robot were moved, then the ball would move with the robot). Thus one can drive around the powerball before acting on it and this would not count towards the time limit. Note: we may modify this so that touching the powerball with clear non-intent to move it is okay (ie, if you brush against it on your way somewhere).
    • If the powerball is deposited in any other goal than the powergoal, it will not receive any score.
    • The presence of the powerball will not affect how the remaining points are scored. For example, if a team places both a red ball and a powerball in the powergoal after the power-round is up, then they would receive 6 points for the red ball and 4 points for the powerball.
