Impounding

Impounding will begin at 5:00 pm on February first. At this time, teams will be called up one by one to be interviewed by the staff. Before impounding, you should

• put a copy of your final code in /mit/6.186/2007/team-code/teamN, where N is your team number.
• Gather up any Maslab sensors that you have that are not on your robot, and return them during your interview.
• Prepare what features of your robot you want to highlight in your impounding interview.

One of the main goals of impounding is for you to tell us what you think are the most amazing parts of your robot. Be prepared to talk about your robot's strategy and algorithms. The staff uses this information both to gauge what teams did overall and to decide on design awards.

Following impounding, your robot will be placed inside your tub and locked in the TA room. The batteries will be kept charging.

There are also other administrative things that will happen at impounding. The staff will:

• check the size of your robot
• tally up sensor points
• inform you of any additional costs due to broken materials
• give you your Maslab T-shirts
• take a team photo with your robot

Impounding takes time, so please be patient as teams are called. We highly discourage you from making code changes at this point -- untested code almost always leads to disappointment -- but you can use this time to relax and polish up your bot-client output.
