Week 1
1/8
We started brainstorming ideas for the robot and drawing out preliminary sketches.
1/9
We printed out and assembled the Kitbot. Mechanical team worked on CAD for our robot design and software team starting working with the NUC and Teensy. By the end of the day, we have gotten the Kitbot to drive forward.
1/10
After going to the electronics lecture, we managed to generate robot smoke. Other than that, we mostly worked on electronics -- we added buck converters, power distribution busses, and rewired everything for quality control. We also made a timed square drive program for the Teensy only, and started considering what a Teensy encoder drive program would look like.
1/11
We attached the NUC to the robot, and started learning about ROS and TAMProxy. We programmed a timed square drive, and started thinking about how to program encoders and servos.

Adriana and Miana finished lasercutting the final bot (named Humphrey) today! Our lab session was mostly assembling Humphrey's chassis and starting to attach electronics onboard in a very temporary fashion. We're still trying to figure out final component placement. We didn't get much programming done because of the kitbot-Humphrey transition.
Isaac tried helping us crimp toward the end of lab. After he handed us the crimped wire...
Miana: But it's hideous! Isaac: I know. I'm sorry.
