About the Course
MASLAB (Mobile Autonomous Systems Laboratory) is MIT's premier autonomous robotics competition, offered every January during MIT's Independent Activities Period (IAP). In four weeks, students receive all the tools they need to develop a competitive autonomous robot. Students learn about mechanical design, electrical integration, and software development through both lectures and lab activities.
At the core of MASLAB's teaching philosophy is the importance of unstructured problem-solving, a strong team environment, and individual guidance and coaching. Our students receive this educational experience through hands-on exposure to leading and emerging technologies in the field of autonomous robotics, which allows them to develop their skills, confidence, and teamwork in a supportive environment. These activities lead up to a final competition at the end of January, in which students can earn cash prizes!
Curriculum
The MASLAB curriculum is accessible to undergraduate students of all experience levels, and the vast majority of the course consists of hands-on lab work while receiving personalized mentorship from our highly skilled TAs.
Prerequisites
MASLAB is open to all MIT undergraduates, regardless of year or major. No prior experience is required and the course has no prerequisites. Additionally, there is no lottery for admission to the class.
