It is the first day of the competition, and I am filled with a sense of inexplicable foreboding. I am not usually pay any mind to such feelings, but I cannot shake the thought that something unnatural stalks the halls of this lab. I will continue to explore, and document my findings here.

Goal of today: get ball tracking working. Using a haar cascade approach. But before I can do that, I need to get OpenCV working with the webcam, which is apparently not happening. I installed python-opencv, to have a convenient shell. When I run cam = cv.CaptureFromCAM(ID) or cv2.VideoCapture(ID) I get one of a few errors. Either: VIDIOC_QUERYMENU: Invalid argument VIDIOC_QUERYMENU: Invalid argument VIDIOC_QUERYMENU: Invalid argument VIDIOC_QUERYMENU: Invalid argument VIDIOC_QUERYMENU: Invalid argument VIDIOC_QUERYMENU: Invalid argument VIDIOC_QUERYMENU: Invalid argument libv4l2: error setting pixformat: Device or resource busy HIGHGUI ERROR: libv4l unable to ioctl S_FMT libv4l2: error setting pixformat: Device or resource busy libv4l1: error setting pixformat: Device or resource busy HIGHGUI ERROR: libv4l unable to ioctl VIDIOCSPICT when the external camera is attached or HIGHGUI ERROR: V4L: device /dev/video0: Unable to query number of channels when I'm only using the internal camera. I can't figure out how to fix this. The internet doesn't really know. I'm currently follwing the instructions here (http://www.ozbotz.org/opencv-installation/). We'll see if that helps.

Max is now Jake. When we asked where Max went, Jake would only say that he had been "processed." Diana swears she saw Jake eat a bug.
